Story of Papaka

     A long time ago Papaka the crab and Koura the crayfish lived in the water. One day they went on an island and looked at theri reflection in the water. Papaka and Koura were sad because their shells were grey and dull.
      A tuiflew flew bye and Papaka and Koura asked, “How did such pretty black, green, and blue feathers?”
      “I flew up to the Sun and it gave me shiny feathers.”
      Papaka and Koura were sad because they could not fly to get beautiful shells.
      Then along came Kingfisher. Papaka and Koura asked the Kingfisher, “How did you get such beautiful black shiny wings?”
      “The sun made the reflection in the water and sky shined on me.”
      Then along came the butterfly. “How did you get your beautiful colors?” asked Papaka and Koura.
      “ I flew into the rainbow and it gave me my colors.”, said the butterfly.
      Along came the dragonfly. “How did you get your awesome body?” asked Papaka and Koura.
      “I flew up to the moon and it gave me my colors”, answered the dragonfly.
      The dragonfly was sitting next to a beautiful catepillar. “How did you get your beautiful fur?”
      “I got lots of rain and sun and I got fur.”
Along came a fly. “How did you get such a black body?”
      “ The dark sky gave it to me.”
      “Papalka and Koura were sad because they throught they we ugly. The other animals said go into the water and Papaka and Koura's shells turned bright red.
