There was a boy named Thomas. His family was
really really poor. Thomas Mom and Dad worked very
hard. They had seven kids to feed . Its was very hard to
get money.
Thomas hated seeing his family work so hard and have
so little. So he decided that he would go to the city and
find a job to earn money to help his family.
Thomas Mom gave him a hug and a pot to make soup
and Thomas set off for the city. Thomas Dad said
,"Be brave in the city and gave him a croaker bag ,
a soup bone, and matches. On his way to the city Thomas
picked up sticks for his and wild plants and placed it
his bag.
When Thomas was tired he filled his pot with water and
made a soup from all the wild plants. A poor man came by
asking for a cup of soup. The old poor man asked Tom
where he was heading. The old man told Thomas about a
haunted house not to far away. If you stay the
night you get to keep the house and the treasure hidden
there, said the old man.
Now Thomas thought about his family and decided the
would stay the night and get the treasure. He walked to
the haunted house. It was late so Thomas started the wood
stove and made a bowl of soup for supper. As he was
eating there was a scary looking ghost legs that fell
through the fireplace. The legs started kicking
everything. and a loud scary voice came from the
fireplace. Look out below! Here comes my
middle Then an headless shirt and arms dropped down
the fireplace and joined the kicking legs.
Thomas kept on eating his soup.
The headless ghost asked, "Arent you going to
run away ?
The legs started kicking everything. and a loud scary
voice came from the fireplace. Look out below! Here
comes the rest of me Then a bearded head fell down
the fireplace and the arms picked it up and joined it to
headless shirt and the kicking legs.
The ghost asked, "What are going to say ?
Do you want some soup? asked Thomas.
Follow me said the ghost.
The ghost and the boy left the house. They went out in
the night and the ghost said, Dig here.
Thomas dug all night until he hit a pot of gold.
Give half to the poor. Keep the rest, said
the ghost.
Thomas was not poor anymore. He gave half to the poor
and his family got a big beautiful gray house and
farm.
